Olivia's & Ava's excellent dental adventure

Ava had her first dental exam and was a perfect little lady. She never flinched once when the dentist had his hands in her mouth. She does have a tooth coming in behind her front gum line which seems to be the norm with clefts and will have to be watched only in case it causes pain.

This was Olivia's 6th dental visit for the same problem! She has been extremely reluctant (that's an understatement) to allow anyone in her mouth and needless to say no one wants to traumatize her. So over the last 6 months we have been unable to get a cavity filled and now she had 3! In fact she had to actually have a root canal and crown on the original cavity. This is not uncommon for children from China, since the birth mothers often have very poor nutrition which leads to poor baby teeth health. To accomplish this feat, she had to have "happy juice", then laughing gas and Novocaine!! She was quite a sight after the "happy juice", but finally got through it. We just hope this is not something we will forever have to repeat! As she matures she should (please please please) allow the dentist to work on her. On to the pictures...
