Received Assignment Packet

We received a packet today from our agency, Holt International Children's Services. This is the assignment packet and the first line of the first document reads, "Dear Family: Congratulations on being selected for your child!" This is almost too much, we expected this letter, but still it is almost too much. The magnitude of those words are enormous; or is it "is enormous"? The flood of emotions takes a backseat to the realization that now things start to happen quite fast. Documents must be notarized, certified, authenticated, and maybe something else, and then sent back to Holt as fast as possible. Elizabeth will be going to Richmond tomorrow to get one document processed and on Friday we both go to get our fingerprints updated. We also received an invoice, so a huge check will also be sent off. Thank God we have been saving money, but truth be told, we kind of figured that we had maybe another 18 months to do so. But there is really never enough money, but somehow we seem to get by.
There is probably nothing that compares with this type of excitement. We really do not want to be traveling to China anytime during the Olympics in Beijing, but it is starting to seem that this is a possibility.
