Today our agency informed us that our TA has arrived. They will now contact the US Consulate to see about scheduling a visa appointment and check on the status of our USCIS paperwork. If all is good, we should be traveling in early September. The TA is one more obstacle that we have overcome and is what we have been waiting on. The fly in the ointment, and there always seems to be a fly that gets in the ointment, is that our I-171H expires in the middle of September, and unless it is renewed, we can not bring Ava back to the US. If we could get in and out of China before it expired, we would be sitting pretty. As it looks now, we will not be able to accomplish everything before the time our document expires.
We knew this was probably going to be tight, so over three weeks ago we sent our update to the USCIS. So far, only silence. This is ominous and we have started the process of trying to determine the status of our case. We are up against a bureaucracy, and this is quite a mismatch. Nothing is ever easy. We would appreciate any ideas, prayers, whatever you can think of.
