So this is where we stand...

OK, our 171H is a definite hangup. Our agency made appointments in Guangzhou for 39 families and 5 have problems and we're one of them. Our 171H expires 9/14/08 and Guangzhou is making appointments for September 24 and onward. So they must have our renewal before we can go. However, our renewal did leave Fairfax, VA, Friday and was delivered this morning, Tuesday, 8/12/08, at the National Visa Center (NVC). If we can get the NVC to transmit our renewal to Guangzhou and Guangzhou can acknowledge it by the end of this week, then we will travel September 10 (Olivia's b'day) 0r 11 and be in Guangzhou for our appointment September 24. That last sentence sounds so simple but just think of all the bureaucracy in the NVC and then Guangzhou has to record that they received it, all in the next 4 days. Maybe not simple but I think if we stay on it, it can be done. So I'm burning up the lines because just getting through to the NVC takes stamina and is a major accomplishment not to mention how long it takes to actually get a person on the line. Then we have an email address and phone number for the consulate in Guangzhou, so they are the next in line to be hearing relentlessly from me. Hopefully, just to get rid of me they will help me accomplish this.

So, we need everyone to say a few prayers, cross your fingers, rub the Buddha's belly, and anything else you can think of!
